Dental Implants

We fully support the concept, together with your restorative dentist, that saving your own natural tooth is most often preferable to pulling your tooth and replacing it with an implant.  But while root canal therapy is usually capable of saving your tooth and preferable to extraction (ie having your tooth pulled), there are conditions and situations which do, in fact, indicate extraction over root canal therapy.  Your endodontist, with the ability to provide either root canal therapy or to provide the placement of a dental implant to replace your missing tooth can give you an accurate and unbiased professional opinion in conjunction with your restorative dentist of the best way to proceed in your particular case.  Bridges and implants are often both good options to replace non-restorable and missing teeth.  In general, once a treatment plan is thoroughly discussed with your restorative dentist, we at Apex Endodontics can place an implant to replace the root of your missing tooth, and your restorative dentist restores the implant with a crown.

Dental implants are small titanium screws designed specifically to replace your natural tooth’s root.  Since they are manufactured from titanium, dental implants provide a highly biocompatible surface, encouraging bone to attach to the implant for the several months following placement in the socket to ensure long-term stability.

A dental implant, in most ways, is just like getting your tooth back! It even has the advantage that it will never again become decayed.  Please let us know if we could answer any questions for you.

How much will it cost?

The cost associated with this procedure can vary depending on factors such as the coverage provided, if any, by your dental insurance carrier.  Most insurance carriers provide no coverage for the implant placement procedure. In general, endodontic treatment is much less expensive than tooth removal and replacement with an artificial tooth or implant.  But if your tooth is already missing or must be removed then it is an excellent option.  Several financing plans are available.
