Dr. Brian Banfield joined Apex Endodontics in 2007. He was born in Illinois and moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1982 where he later met and married his wife, Melissa. They have been married since 2000 and have 4 children: Madison, Mikelle, Blake, and Katelyn.
Dr. Banfield is a Mesa native returning home after obtaining his training in various parts of the country. Brian attended Mountain View high school, and went to Mesa Community College and then Brigham Young University where he graduated with a B.S. in Zoology in 1998. In both high school and college, Brian was a member of the Varsity baseball team as a pitcher. Dr. Banfield graduated with honors from Nova Southeastern University with a DMD degree in 2003. Following graduation, he completed a general practice residency (GPR) at Denver Health Medical Center. Dr Banfield then continued on to obtain his advanced specialty training in Endodonitcs at the University of Pennsylvania in 2006. Throughout his residency, Dr. Banfield continued to practice as a general dentist but now specializes exclusively in Endodontics.
During his residency, Dr. Banfield received extensive training in the use of microscopes, microscopic imaging, and endodontic microsurgery. He was an instructor at the Microscope Training Center in the University of Pennsylvania, where he instructed participants from around the world in the uses of microsurgical techniques. He has continued teaching by presenting endodontic lectures to other practitioners, and has been involved in research in endodontic instrumentation and apical transportation.
Dr. Banfield maintains membership in the American Dental Association, American Association of Endodontics, Arizona State Dental Association, and the OKU Chi Psi Chapter (National Dental Honor Society). He enjoys watching the Diamondbacks, Phoenix Suns, and playing softball. Dr. Banfield enjoys camping, boating, and SCUBA diving.
